God on the side of the ANC – Zuma

Addressing members and supporters in Burgersfort yesterday, ANC president Jacob Zuma told the crowd that the party would win the 2019 general elections. Repeating his earlier statements that the ANC would rule South Africa until the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, he said, “the ANC is going to increase its majority in the next elections because it stands with the people; even God is on the side of the ANC.”

The rally was held in celebration of the 105 birthday of the party at provincial level as a follow to the national one held on January 8 held in Soweto. Surrounded by ANC leaders from the province, Zuma warned that it was premature to discuss and pronounce the names of his possible successors as party president in the national conference to be held in December this year. There is a raging succession battle in the organisation with two factions led by Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Cyril Ramaphosa to succeed Zuma.

Zuma was also confronted by a mob chanting that they wanted books, referring to the failure of the provincial Education department’s to supply books and stationery to schools.

The president of the ANC had also addressed a gala dinner on Saturday in town to raise funds for the party. On the same day, the Premier of the province, Stan Mathabatha, celebrated his sixtieth birthday in a party at his home village of Tooseng
